About the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Program

Established in 1993, Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Program (CBI) is one of the fastest, longest running, and most affordable CBI programs in the world. Dominica citizenship can be obtained through a significant financial investment in the country’s infrastructure.

The program aims to increase foreign economic contributions to Dominica, in order to expand the economy and meet the needs of the modern competitive global market. Applicants may also donate to major development projects in both the public and private sectors, or invest in government-approved real estate.

FORMS OF INVESTMENT:

  1. Contribution to Government Fund (non-refundable investment)
  • 100,000 USD (~ 2.3 billion VND) – single applicant;
  • 150,000 USD (~3.5 billion VND) – applicant has 01 dependent (wife/husband);
  • 175,000 USD (~4.1 billion VND) – applicant has 2-3 dependents (not including siblings);
  • Add $25,000 or $50,000 for each additional dependent on the application – varies depending on age and relationship to the main applicant.
  1. Real Estate Investment

Invest a minimum of USD 200,000 (~VND 4.6 billion) and maintain the investment for at least 3 years in a real estate development project approved by the Government.

In addition to the cost of purchasing the property, there will be a number of additional fees such as: appraisal fees, filing fees, processing fees, and government fees.

REQUEST

  • Over 18 years old;
  • No criminal record;
  • Provide documents in English;
  • Submit an application for economic citizenship to the Minister in charge of granting citizenship;
  • Make the required qualifying investment;
  • Applications must be submitted by a Government-recognized immigration agency.

APPLICATION PROCESSING PROCESS (3-5 MONTHS)

  • Prepare all required documents, submit application through licensed entity and pay application appraisal fee and Government fees;
  • Once approved, the applicant is required to complete the required investment and pay the remaining Government fees;
  • Passport is issued after obtaining Certificate of Citizenship.

FAQ

To be eligible to apply for citizenship, the principal applicant must be over 18 years of age, have a clean criminal record, have no criminal record, and meet the required Government Fund donation or investment requirements in the forms above.

Citizens of the following countries are restricted from applying for Dominican citizenship

  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Sudan
  • Syria

Citizens of countries on the above restricted list are allowed to apply for Dominican citizenship IF they meet the following requirements:

Does not and has never had any business or similar activities, in whole or in part, with or in any of the above restricted countries.

Not have lived in any of the countries on the above restricted list within the past 10 years.

No “significant” assets in any of the countries listed above; and

  • Spouse of main applicant;
  • Dependent children up to 30 years of age;
  • Proof of full-time attendance at an accredited educational institution for dependent children aged 18-30
  • Dependent children who are at least 18 years of age and physically and/or mentally disabled, must be living with and be fully financially dependent on the main applicant;
  • Dependent daughter must never have been married and be up to 30 years old
  • Parents; dependent grandparents of the main applicant or of the main applicant’s spouse over 55 years old, living with and being completely financially dependent on the main applicant (at least one parent/grandparent must be over 55 years old).

The Dominica passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to over 120 countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the Schengen area. Dual citizenship is allowed. Citizenship is valid for life and can be granted to second-generation family members (children born after the naturalization application has been approved) and third-generation family members (not automatic; conditions apply).

Processing time is about 3-5 months.

No. There is no requirement for applicants to visit or reside in Dominica prior to obtaining citizenship.

Required. Applicants are required to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to make the investment. The required documents and records will vary depending on the source of the investment.

Yes. Applicants can be sponsored/given assets by friends or relatives for investment purposes under the CIP program. In most cases, investors will be required to submit additional documents for asset verification purposes. Other required documents will vary depending on the source of investment funds.
